How can we use animation to make the user experience on the new Google Fonts website better?

I created several videos to help illustrate to the engineers how animation can play a role in enhancing the user experience of the new website.

One of the most important practices that I keep in mind when applying motion to UI is that it has to be applied with intention as well as add to the user’s experience. Sometimes this means entertaining the visitor when something is loading or not having any motion at all to quickly get the visitor to the page. Unnecessary movements can add to unwanted loading time and result in frustrating visitors when they have to wait for animations to finish.
