STRAVA - Year in Sport

Since 2009, Strava has grown from an exercise-tracking app to a full blown community, replete with complex data and passionate users from across the globe. At the close of each year, Strava offers its users a chance to review their logged activity through Year in Sport, an experience driven solely by athlete data. In previous years, Strava had created both animated videos, and a static in-app experience to present the experience. This was the first year the team set out to create a fully data-driven animated experience within the Strava app, giving athletes an immersive personalized experience that could be easily shared across social channels.

Together with Manual I worked to create a brand experience around the proposition that ‘Athlete’s Don’t Quit.’ This narrative focused on the resilience of Strava athletes throughout a year of struggle, uncertainty, and ongoing obstacles.

Developing Year in Sport was a chance to elevate those stories of resilience and moments of true grit in a year where nothing seemed possible.

Graphics that change based on athletes data
